Moving to Lopez Island. Wondering about care of my Thompson, and where to paddle!

Greetings!

It's looking like I may be moving to Lopez Island off the coast of Washington. I'm wondering if having my Thompson exposed for long periods to the salt sea air will be a problem? I know this is not the right forum for this question, but any tips on where to paddle in this area?
