I'm looking for info ...... regarding an Old Town Sailing canoe gifted to my Dad just after WWII. The numbers are 105917 16. I believe the boat to be suitable for restoration and it's time to find someone who can do that. It is complete except for the sail which is rotten..... Family history indicates original purchase by an uncle (last name Hart). I hope to find someone local-ish for restoration and obtain a suitable trailer so I can manage to launch sail the canoe of my childhood.

The Old Town with serial number 105917 is a 14 foot long All Wood Sea Model boat so that isn't a good match. Can you provide some pictures of the serial numbers from each end? Thanks,

My guess is that you have the Old Town canoe with serial number 105911. This is a 16 foot long, CS (common sense or middle) grade, Otca model with red western cedar planking, open spruce gunwales, twenty inch oak decks, oak thwarts, oak seats, a keel, and floor rack. It was built between April and June, 1930. The original exterior paint color was bright red. It shipped on June 21st, 1930 to New York City. A scan of this build record can be found below.
