Curious about Wooden Canoes
I have a 15.5 Lakefield sailing canoe, with one seat and two thwarts (one of the thwarts has a brass tag with the number 278). It has narrow slats, running the length of the canoe. There is a brass tag with a WCC 18 on one
thwart - Winnipeg Canoe Club #18 - I think. Number 16 is stamped in the fore stem and also the rear stem. The rear stem is stamped with the number 5699. I have three pictures attached. Can anyone help with a date of manufacture and other info? Bernie

I don't believe that there are any known Lakefield serial number records available so it isn't likely that anyone has any other information available. Sorry,

Benson

Thanks Benson. It's disappointing that the details are lost. My guess at the age of manufacture, just looking at the cedar/canvas construction, I'd guess it would be made C1930"s....thanks for your reply.....Bernie
