I would like any information available about the build date and original purchaser of this canoe.

I'm sorry to be getting back to you so late about this. The Kennebec canoe with serial number 22689 is shown on pages 138 and 139 of volume four in the Kennebec ledgers. This was assigned to 17 foot long Kennebec model A. It was planked by Mansell on February 19th, 1938. The canvas covering was applied by Thib. on the same day. He applied first filler coat on February 26th, 1938 and he applied the second filler coat on March 26th, 1938. It was railed by Vigue on April 30th, 1938. The "F 22" (Function number 22 or the keel?) was completed by Thib. on the same day. The "F 24" (Function number 24 or the thwarts?) was completed by Thib. on May 21st, 1938. The original color was green. It shipped on May 20th, 1938 to location "38-123". This location is probably an order number but we don't currently have enough information to identify it. (I realize that the last two dates appear to be out of sequence and may be errors but that appears to be what the records show.)
