The Old Town canoe with serial number 183310 is a 16 foot long fiberglass model, jade in color with white decks. It was built between June and July, 1969. It was shipped on July 31st, 1969 to Paramus, New Jersey. A scan of this build record can be found by following the link at the attached thumbnail image below.

This scan and several hundred thousand others were created with substantial grants from the Wooden Canoe Heritage Association (WCHA) and others. Most of the oldest Old Town models were designated with two letter abbreviations like HW, IF, CR, GS, etc. so it is not surprising that their first canoe model which wasn't made of wood would follow in this tradition. The official model name in the catalogs was FG but it was also clear that it stood for fiberglass.

This model was last listed in the 1975 catalog as shown below. More information about this and other Old Town models can be found on the Old Town Canoe Company Catalog Collection CD. This is available from http://www.wcha.org/catalog/ and http://www.dragonflycanoe.com/cdrom.htm on the web. The serial number should be embedded in the hull along the rail near one end if you want a copy of the build record.

The cover of the 1977 catalog that you attached actually shows a 15 foot long Chipewyan model made out of Oltonar or acrylonitrille butadiene styrene (ABS) plastic as described on the top of page three and pages six to nine in that catalog if anyone is really concerned about details like this.
