Curious about Wooden Canoes
I just had a canoe come back to the shop that I refinished last year. It appears that the filler bled through in spots. There are gray spots and the paint released in those areas. For the past year the client stored the canoe in a storage room used by an auto mechanic and car refinisher. There is an obvious presence af solvents in the air.
My initial conclusion was some type of reaction to the chemicals in his storage area. However, if the filler was not thououghly dried, what would be the result?? I let my fillers dry 6 to 8 weeks in a heated shop.
