Canoe nut
Saw this on eBay and was curious as to what type of canoe or boat it was from.

The Old Town canoe with serial number 222764 is a 17 foot long Chipewyan Tripper model which was made from Oltonar/ABS plastic and weighed 86 pounds. It was built in September, 1978. The original exterior color was green. It shipped on April 2nd, 1979 to New Hartford, Conn. A scan showing this build record can be found by following the link at the attached thumbnail image below.

This scan and several hundred thousand more were created with substantial grants from the Wooden Canoe Heritage Association (WCHA) and others as you probably know well. A description of the project to preserve these records is available at http://www.wcha.org/ot_records/ if you want more details. I hope that you will join or renew your membership to the WCHA so that services like this can continue. See http://www.wcha.org/about-the-wcha/ to learn more about the WCHA and http://store.wcha.org/WCHA-New-Membership.html to renew.

The price at http://www.ebay.com/itm/301940321003 seems a bit high to me. Feel free to reply here if you have any other questions.

Benson

Thank you - had no intention of buying it, but was curious.
I pick up ID plates when they are less than $20 including shipping - in new condition - for use on canoes I refurbish and keep.
The ones that come off often get reused on "lesser" canoes.
I have 6 Royalex Old Towns that I use with 2 Scout Troops and will be meeting with a 3rd Troop on Wednesday.

Your advice on the 14' Carelton was great. The young ladies that bought it for me love it. It was perfect for them.

Hope to meet you at the Assembly.

Russ
