Coordinating a purchase of a canoe in the classifieds to restore and donate to the original purchaser. Can anyone decipher the notes on the build sheet ref what may have been painted on the bow

Back rest. perhaps solid plank rather than strips?

Works for me. Looks like the canoe will need a load of work, no issues. A friend will snag it and hold it until I can pick it up. Waiting to hear from the prep school that originally bought it in 1906 but it could be a cool thing for the school to have to enjoy their history and heritage. Thanks Dan

I'd say a wood slatted seat back and not a caned seat back. Though I don't know anyone who has attended the school. Only a few towns away from me.

Well may be a while until restoration and delivery but would love to have you there. You know far more than I probably ever will about canoes. I trust the school will welcome the gift.
