Anyone know what this is?

I agree with Peter, with that v-shaped hull it is a single or tandem racing canoe. The construction method is called wide-board and flush batten. The hardwood batten is halved into the planking and runs the full length of the canoe. Many builders used the method; Thomas Gordon, Lakefield Canoe Co, Strickland, Peterborough Canoe Co, Capital Boat and Canoe Works, Ed Durnan, Thomas Eynon and others.

I can’t say for sure, but the canoe in the pictures looks similar to the racing canoes built by The Capital Boat and Canoe Works in Ottawa.

I think they are referring to the stems, they seem to be wrapped in metal, looks sort of like a cutwater. 50k? seems optimistic....

Peter,

It is a beautyful rowing and sailing skiff, but $50 000, I don't think so, not from me anyhow.
