Hello
I am considering acquiring this beautiful Old Town canoe
Serial # 179729 15 -from a family member.
He believes he got in the early 60's in Delaware.
I am hoping for some more information.
What an amazing site - so many interesting classics!
Thank you very much
David

The Old Town canoe with serial number 179729 is a 15 foot long Light Weight model with a keel. It was built in January, 1968. The original exterior canvas covering was painted red. It shipped on March 5th, 1968 to the Springfield, Penna. A scan of this build record can be found by following the link behind the attached thumbnail image below.

This scan and several hundred thousand others were created with substantial grants from the Wooden Canoe Heritage Association (WCHA) and others as you probably know well. A description of the project to preserve these records is available at http://www.wcha.org/ot_records/ if you want more details. I hope that you will join or renew your membership to the WCHA so that services like this can continue. See http://www.wcha.org/about-the-wcha/ to learn more about the WCHA and http://store.wcha.org/WCHA-New-Membership.html to join.

It is also possible that you could have another number or manufacturer if this description doesn't match your canoe. Feel free to reply here if you have any other questions.

Excellent!
Thank you very much-seems right on to me.
He bought it from Paul Wick ski shop in Delaware-
So there must have been a few shops in the surrounding area.
I am including a few pics of the boat now in CT.
Regards
David
