I'm looking for info on an Old Town canoe with 176935 15 (or 178935 15) branded into the bottom. What model is this, how can I find info on restoration, proper paint, varnish ... Thanks

Old Town 176935 is a 15 foot light-weight model canoe with thwarts and a keel, which was originally painted dark green. It was completed October-November of 1966 and shippped to Northwestern University, Warren Center for Physical Ed and Recreation, Ashland, Mass on May 16, 1967. The reverse of the card contains an inquiry dated May 25, 1982.The scan of this record is attached below-- click on it to get a larger image. This scan and several hundred thousand others were created with substantial grants from the Wooden Canoe Heritage Association (WCHA) and others. A description of the project to preserve these records is available at http://www.wcha.org/ot_records/ if you want more details. I hope that you and anyone else reading this will join or renew membership in the WCHA so that services like this can continue. See http://www.wcha.org/wcha/ to learn more about the WCHA and http://www.wcha.org/join.php to renew.

It is also possible that you could have another number or manufacturer if this description doesn't match your canoe. Feel free to reply here if you have any other questions.

These forums should contain all the information and expertise you need to make your little boat shine again! You can either use the "search" function above for past discussions, ask a specific new question... and you might look through Thurlow and Stelmok's "The Wood and Canvas Canoe." Lots of YouTube videos, too...
