1/4 Sheet Sandpaper?

I have a palm sander that uses 1/4 sheets.
I don’t use it all that much, but I’m disappointed in the paper I get from the hardware store.
Anybody have a favorite that works well?

Hi Dave, not sure this will help as it's coming from a Canadian perspective? I've also has trouble with sand paper purchased from the local hardware store. I've had much better success with a product I buy made by Siarexx. They are from Switzerland and also make sanding discs for my orbital sander which I use regularly, and it comes in a wide range of grits. Hopefully you can search to see if anyone near you sells it?

I heard about a super sandpaper product recently but can't recall. It's out there tho.

I have had good luck with 3M sandpaper, you may have to go to an automotive store or Amazon. to get it. I have used it in the past as a finish carpenter and cabinet installer and have no issues with it working on canoes.

It is always easier if you have the product number.

I use Norton 3X for nonsticky back paper. For palm sanders, I‘ve switched to Festool and the mesh paper. Won’t look back!

I used to use Norton ProSand 3X. Now they have 10X.

Really like Klingspor (German product with ceramic grit); https://www.klingspor.de/en

Have also experimented with mesh disks.

There are a dizzying array of abrasives available.
