Hello all. As a new member, I've really enjoyed the few editions of Wooden Canoe Journal I've received so far.
I'm interested in ordering some hard copy back issues especially those that feature articles on bark canoes and paddle making. I was wondering if there is a sort of online page with the topics of each journal so that I could narrow down my selection. The Che-Mun journal of Wilderness Canoeing has a page like this which lists some of the contents of each journal dating back to 2002. I've searched through the WHCA website for a similar page, but to no avail. If there isn't such a page, then maybe this could be a suggestion for the site so that the organization could benefit from more sales to the general public and generate more interest in this wonderful publication.

The short answer is no. There is not a topical index of the Journal's back issues currently available on line. There was one once but it was a manual effort and stopped with issue number 78. The bark construction and paddle making sections from that document are attached below.
Roger started to add the back issues individually in the store with each table of contents as shown at http://woodencanoe.org/catalog/produ...c68962400c86d4 for example. This effort hasn't gotten past issue number six yet since there is now a higher priority project to replace the entire store software with a better package. The plan is to eventually show the table of contents for each back issue. The back issues of the Journal are also available on a CD from http://woodencanoe.org/catalog/produ...c68962400c86d4 which includes a full text search capability. This indicates that there are 155 issues which contain 3108 instances of bark and 5381 instances of paddle. Let me know if this doesn't answer your question or if you would like more details. Many thanks for your detailed response, Benson. Hope it wasn't an inconvenience doing all that homework for me. Appreciate all the effort the volunteers of the WCHA are doing behind the scenes.
