Old Town canoe #14739

The Old Town canoe with serial number 14739 is an 18 foot long, CS grade, HW (Heavy Water) model with western red cedar planking, closed spruce gunwales, birch decks, ash trim, spruce outside rails, a keel, and a floor rack. It was built between June and July, 1910. The original exterior paint color was dark green. It shipped in August, 1910(?) to Whitehall, New York.

This scans and several hundred thousand others were created with substantial grants from the Wooden Canoe Heritage Association (WCHA) and others as you probably know well. A description of the project to preserve these records is available at http://www.wcha.org/ot_records/ if you want more details. I hope that you will join or renew your membership to the WCHA so that services like this can continue. See http://www.wcha.org/wcha/ to learn more about the WCHA and http://www.wcha.org/join.php to join or renew.

It is also possible that you could have another number or manufacturer if this description doesn't match your canoe. Feel free to reply here if you have any other questions. Good luck with your search,

Benson

Thanks.

This canoe is now a square stern, so I guess it wasn't made that way.

Keep paddling,

The Canoe Kid

Kid,

Make sure you double check your numbers - a covered digit or mis read 8 or 3 may get you the build record of a square ender!
