Yep... kind of repeating myself but to ensure I'm not spam; got to keep posting

    I used old Y-Stern Kildonan freighter for years, adapting it to sail. It went like a son of a gun with a lateen rig. I made paddle-boards for it that were portable and efficient... then discovered how much I hate tacking. I would like to find a better sailing rig for the next incarnation of this boat (after recanvassing) and invite any suggestions. I'm thinking spritsail, but don't want anything too complicated that might tip me over in cold water... dry suit or no. I live in Yukon. I'm not fooling around about the cold water concerns.

    I would encourage you to stick with a lateen rig to reduce the chances of tipping over by keeping the center of effort as low as possible. Todd's book at http://www.wcha.org/store/canoe-rig-essence-and-art has good descriptions of a variety of different canoe sail rigs and explanations of the physics involved. Good luck,
