Curious about Wooden Canoes
Now that I have you attention, I thought I should introduce myself. G'day, I am an Aussie living in the great white north (Edmonton AB). I Built a ceder stripper last winter and now have a 1960's wood canvas to restore. You may view my build blog at the follow address if you want to (no pressure!) www.jamescanoe.blog.com

Really needed something to do in the colder months so Canoe stuff is it.

Currenty reading 'Voyageur' by Robert Twigger.

About to carve my next paddle out of Ash.

I usually check out www.songofthepaddle.co.uk on a regular basis over the cooler months to keep abreast of their blogg section. It's fun to see where other folks paddle.

Welcome! You get to paddle some very pretty territory-- but, as with us, winter sets in and we keep ourselves warm with memories of summer paddling and thoughts of the next WCHA Assembly... and we work indoors on canoes and paddles... and read. Seems to me you're living much as others are, who have their paddling-opportunities dampened by snow and ice many months of the year.
