The Three Rivers Chapter (Pittsburgh, PA area) will paddle a scenic eight-mile stretch of the Kiski River from Avenmore to Apollo on May 16. Depending on the water level, river conditions should be great. It's a lazy 8-mile drift on clear water through forested country with plenty of wildlife and photo opportunities. Port-a-potties are in place at Roaring Run. Our starting place is in the town of Avonmore. It has a very nice parking and launch area. Start time is 9:30 am. From Apollo go south on Pa 66 for 0.56 mi.
Bear left on Pa 819 for 5.5mi.
Turn left on Pa 981 for 1.89 mi.
Turn left on Pa 156 for 0.88 mi.
Turn right on Westmoreland Ave. (Pa 156)
Go downhill and watch for "canoe launch" sign on the left.
