I will be scarfing new ends on to both stems. I do need to go far enough down to need a little bit of a bend, but not far enough for me to take on a full stem replacement. Does anyone have any suggestions on how best to shape them? Would anyone bother trying to steam bend short little pieces like that (6" and 10") or just cut the curve?

cut the curve. sometimes they are made a bit wider (front to back, not wide as in thickness) and a birds beak joint over the original.
