Sample canoe display - 2016 Assembly

A general 'heads up' for everyone.... a comprehensive exhibit of early factory 'display sample' canoe models (aka 'salesman's samples') is currently in the works for 2016 Assembly. Benson Gray and I have undertaken to attempt to organize. We hope to have as broad a representation of manufacturers as possible. Kennebec is the 'theme brand' for 2016, so we are especially asking anyone who has such a sample canoe to let us know, and to kindly bring it for display. The more the merrier; even if we have duplicates, we can compare for subtle differences in production technique over the years.

We know of a number of Old Town samples amongst our membership; please bring us your treasures. Again, duplicates won't matter, and will help us build our on-going data base. Several very rare and early Canadian samples are committed to the show. All others are highly welcomed.

If you have sample paddles, those could be an additional exhibit.

So, please be in touch in order that we might get a handle on this project. The last time we did this several years ago, we thought the showing might last an hour. It turned out to be hugely popular, and lasted a whole afternoon. This time, Rob has tentatively set aside Friday morning, July 15th, from 9:00 to 12:00 for our purposes.

We hope to hear from all those interested in participating, and are hoping that your early response will help us to better plan this event. We welcome your input and suggestions.

Thanks for your cooperation.
