Requesting a history search of a Kennebec Canoe.

The Kennebec canoe with serial number 19800 as shown on page 121 of volume three in the Kennebec ledgers. This was assigned to a 16 foot long Kennebec model type A. It was planked by Cameron on May 19th, 1928. The canvas covering and the first filler coat were applied by Roy on the same day. The second filler coat was applied by Roy on June 2nd, 1928. It was railed by King on July 21st, 1928. The original color was white. It was shipped to location "28-1027" on August 6th, 1928. This location is probably an order number but we don't currently have enough information to identify it.

The scans of these build records can be found by following the links at the attached thumbnail images below. These original Kennebec records are reproduced through the courtesy of the Maine State Museum.

The microfilms and scans of these records were created with substantial grants from the Wooden Canoe Heritage Association (WCHA). A description of the project to preserve records like these is available at http://www.wcha.org/catalogs/old-town/records/ if you want more details. I hope that you will join or renew your membership to the WCHA so that services like this can continue. See http://www.wcha.org/about-wcha to learn more about the WCHA and http://www.wcha.org/store/membership to join.

It is also possible that you could have another number or manufacturer if this description doesn't match the canoe. Feel free to reply here if you have any other questions.
