    Hi folks,

I'm getting towards restoring/rebuilding a 16' 1960 Old Town Sport Boat that was in pretty rough shape when I got it. I know the boat originally had oarlocks and oars, but no longer. They guy I bought the boat from actually took the remaining oarlock hardware off before selling it to me. I'd like to replace these with something at least close to the original style, but not sure where to find them.

Does anyone know what these oarlocks are called and where they might be found? I'll attach a photo I took of the oarlock hardware before it was removed by the previous owner. As for the oars, does anyone know what size oars work best with this boat?

The page at shows these Patent Swivel rowlocks and they offer a few other options as well. These also show up on regularly but you will want to get a set with both the bases and the oarlocks since they usually are not interchangeable. Their oar pages like the one at also contain a "How to size your oars" link with the formula for determining the length from the distance between the oarlocks.

Your restoration work is looking great, warms my heart to see such a beautiful boat coming back to life, looking forward to seeing the finished pictures.

Thanks again, Benson. I had a feeling they wouldn't be cheap. Hopefully I can come across some used ones on ebay.

Thanks, Greg! I ended up buying that pair off ebay for a little less than they were asking for (they took my offer). I appreciate the help.
