Really strange OT fiberglass sailing canoe SN 205834

There is a very strange OT fiberglass sailing canoe with sponsons and the end made for a trolling motor for sale locally.
It's about 16' 6" and I think about 38" - 40" wide.

I don't see anything like it in the digital catalogs.

I am guessing this beast weighs 120 lbs.

What is it?

I have zero interest in owning it, the guy is going to look for the sailing rig.

The Old Town canoe with serial number 205834 is a 17 foot long fiberglass Carleton Sponson model that weighed 129 pounds. It was built in January, 1975. The original exterior gelcoat color was blue. It shipped on January 21st, 1975 to Newport News, Virginia. The back side of this record shows that some bubbles were filled on the bottom and that the warranty card was returned from Hampton, Virginia on February, 3rd, 1975. It is also possible that you could have another number or manufacturer if this description doesn't match your canoe. This was shown on page 5 of the 1975 catalog which is included in the digitally scanned catalogs. The sail rig was not mentioned on the build record so that was probably added after it left the factory. Feel free to reply here if you have any other questions. Interesting find,
