Penn Yan boats

    3 Penn Yan boats in the shop in various stages; 14' 1949 flier trailboat being disassembled, 14' 1954 seagoer trailboat ready for paint, and 12' 1959 triple deck swift.

    Nice Gil, good that you have lots of work. I've done a lot of Penn Yans Never liked taking them apart to many nuts, bolts and screws :(

    Get good bit engagement before turning the screws....but I don’t need to tell you that...
    Hope you have a few spares around.

    Over the years I have bought numerous derelict Penn Yan boats , usually cartoppers, for the hardware. PY had their hardware cast strictly for them and no other manufacturer used it. I clean all screwheads with an awl before engaging. They will almost always back out unless somebody was extremely aggressive with a Phillips screwdriver.
