Canoe Enthusiast
Hi, I just acquired a nice condition Old Town Molitor serial # 18 2332 17. The seller said it was from the 1960s. Can you provide this boats original built info sheet? It has a full sail kit but needs re-canvased. Thanks!

Welcome and congratulations, the Old Town canoe with serial number 182332 is a 17 foot long Molitor model with a keel, a mast seat, a mast step, a class C sail rig, and rudder. It was built between December, 1968 and May, 1969. The original exterior paint color was dark green. It shipped on August 4th, 1969 to Spokane, Washington. A scan of this build record can be found by following the link behind the thumbnail image attached below.

This scan and several hundred thousand more were created with substantial grants from the Wooden Canoe Heritage Association (WCHA) and others. A description of the project to preserve these records is available at http://www.wcha.org/ot_records/ if you want more details. I hope that you will donate, join or renew your membership to the WCHA so that services like this can continue. See http://www.wcha.org/about-wcha to learn more about the WCHA and http://www.wcha.org/store/membership to join.

It is also possible that you could have another number or manufacturer if this description don't match your canoe. See https://www.wcha.org/forums/index.php?threads/15885/ and http://www.wcha.org/catalogs/old-town/covers/large-65.gif for some pictures and other details about the class C sail rig. Feel free to reply here if you have any other questions.

Thank you, that information matches exactly. This is great as I've been looking for a quality Molitor for some time! The boat is still dark green. The sail rig is in excellent condition and there appears to only one minor rib fracture. A little time and love and this old beauty will be back on the water, though I'm not sure I'll keep the rudder mount reinstalled as I have no interest in (or flexibility to) sailing this craft. I'll add picture at some point.
