Old Town serial number 180709 16

Welcome and congratulations, the Old Town canoe with serial number 180709 is a 16 foot long Guide model with a keel. It was built between May and June, 1968. The original exterior paint color was dark green. It shipped on September 9th, 1968 to East Hartford, Connecticut. A scan of this build record can be found below.

Thanks very much Benson, I really appreciate your quick reply! I thought it was a 15-foot because I measured it and it's exactly 15 feet from tip to tip, but that serial number is correct and I guess the '16' after the SN means it's a 16'. Funny that they would make a 16' model that's actually 15' long.

Yes, the two digits after the serial number are usually the extreme overall length in feet when measured in a straight line. I suspect that you will find that the curve of the stems on each end extend about six more inches past the tips. This can be more difficult to measure without two people and plumb lines.
