Old Town SDDR04021081

I WISH I had a wood and canvas Old Town to inquire about, but what I do have is a 16 ft (X 36 wide) 1985 Royalex canoe, green with a cream interior. It has some interesting history (to me at least) in that it was purchased used in Alaska 25 years or more ago.

I would be interested to know the model of this canoe if that information is available.

Thanks!

The SDD at the beginning indicates that you may have a canoe from Seda Products as described at http://uscgboating.org/content/manufacturers-identification-detail.php?id=11509 that shipped in 1981. More information could be available from https://www.sedapaddlesports.com/ and their page at https://www.sedapaddlesports.com/collections/canoes shows a canoe. See http://www.boatsafe.com/nauticalknowhow/hin.htm for more details about decoding hull identification numbers like this. Good luck,

Thanks for the information and links - great resources!

Interesting that the boat has been registered as an '85 Old Town. Starting to wonder about registrations as I also have a "1936" Grumman! (Or so it says on the registration.)

Registration information is usually based on what the owner says so this often contains inaccurate information. The web site at http://www.marathonboat.com/about.asp indicates that the first Grumman canoe was built in 1945.
