I have always felt that birding and canoeing go together, because one can see so many birds from the water. The reverse happened on a recent birding trip on the King Ranch in Texas, when we were in a barn at the Norius section headquarters, looking for a Barn Owl, and I was equally interested in a 16ft (I think) OT sponson canoe up in the rafters. It had not been used for a long time and looked to be in good condition, except that the pre-woven seat caning was hanging out. If someone local is interested, this could be worth following up. Yes, we saw the owl.
