I would love to get the build sheet for Old Town 140873 18, which I acquired today and am about to restore. Thanks!!

Welcome and congratulations, the Old Town canoe with serial number 140873 is an 18 foot long Guide model with open spruce gunwales, ash decks, ash thwarts, ash seats, and a keel. It was built between October and December, 1944. The original exterior paint color was G. S. (guide's special) green. It was shipped on January 25th, 1945 to Duluth, Minn. A scan of this build record can be found by following the link at the attached thumbnail image below.

This scan and several hundred thousand more were created with substantial grants from the Wooden Canoe Heritage Association (WCHA) and others. A description of the project to preserve these records is available at http://www.wcha.org/catalogs/old-town/records/ if you want more details. I hope that you will donate, join or renew your membership to the WCHA so that services like this can continue. See http://www.wcha.org/about-wcha to learn more about the WCHA and http://www.wcha.org/store/membership to join.

It is possible that you could have another number or manufacturer if this description doesn't match your canoe. Please post some pictures as your project progresses. Feel free to reply here if you have any other questions. Good luck with the restoration,

Benson

Hello MRoberge...welcome to the forum and congratulations on your plans to save a wooden canoe!
Would you be willing to confirm the type of tacks, diamond bolts and stem bands used in your hull? See the related conversation about this here:

For an unknown length of time during WWII canoe builders were unable to use brass tacks and materials and used steel materials in their place.
Your canoe is built during that time....
