My new book, “Building an Adirondack Guideboat”, Second edition, has been released and is currently available on The book covers fully ribbed Grant boats, sheathed in either cedar strips or planked traditionally. Fiberglassing has been eliminated, as has lofting. In place of lofting, a link is given to 12 full size CAD drawings of rib sets for 14-and 16-foot boats, oars, paddle, seats, and more. The rib sets are lined off for planking, and all contain key locations for sheer, seats, and more. Most of the drawings are 24 x 36-inches, and may be downloaded and printed on a large size printer, such as found at Staples or Office Max, and elsewhere. These drawings are in addition to the well-known Gardner drawings, which are included in the book. For more information, see
