Kennebec 9710

The Kennebec canoe with serial number 9710 is a 15 foot long Kennebec model type A as shown on pages 416 and 417 of volume one in the Kennebec ledgers. It had spruce rails, ash stems, and cedar planking. This was planked by Knowlton on June 12th, 1915. The canvas covering and first filler coat was added by Roy on the same day. He applied the second filler coat in July, 1915. Doucette added the rails on June 26th, 1915. The original color was dark green and was painted by Lancaster on June 26th, 1915. It was packed by Kelliher and shipped to Lord + Co.

The microfilms and scans of these records were created with substantial grants from the Wooden Canoe Heritage Association (WCHA). A description of the project to preserve these records is available at http://www.wcha.org/catalogs/old-town/records/ if you want more details. I hope that you will join or renew your membership to the WCHA so that services like this can continue. See http://www.wcha.org/about-wcha to learn more about the WCHA and http://www.wcha.org/store/membership to join.

It is also possible that you could have another number or manufacturer if this description doesn't match the canoe. Feel free to reply here if you have any other questions.
