Kennebec 8084 16

Can you provide a picture of the serial numbers with the surrounding area from each end and confirm the length of this canoe (or indicate which digits are the least clear)? The Kennebec and Carleton build records for this serial number show eighteen foot long canoes. The Old Town record shows a 16 foot canoe. The Kennebec with serial number 3034 is 16 feet long for example. Are you sure this is the correct serial number and that it is a Kennebec?

It showed up at our meeting yesterday and was presented as a 1905 Kennebec, however I wasn't convinced. I didn't take any pictures but I'll try to chase it down and get something.

Thanks.

I am reasonably confident that it isn't a 1905 Kennebec. The company was founded around 1909 and their oldest serial numbers start with 1001 in January of 1910. The Kennebec with serial number 8084 is from 1912, the Carleton with this number is from 1911 and the Old Town is from 1907. Let me know what you find. Thanks,

Benson
