Thank you Mr. Gray for your quick response, I went back and discovered I had copied the serial # incorrectly, I am truly sorry and hope I did'nt waist
to much of your time. The correct number is 16060. Thank you.

I am dyslexic so I have lots of sympathy for other people who get numbers transposed. The Kennebec Canoe Company placed serial number 16060 on a 17 foot long, type a, Kennebec model. It was planked by Cameron on March 18th, 1922. Tuttle then covered it and Chamberlain first filled it on the same day. Thibodeau applied the second filler coat on April 1st, 1922. Mansell railed it on the same day. The original exterior color was green. It was shippedto the Chamberlain Company in New Haven, Connecticut on April 6th, 1922. The original Kennebec records are stored at the Maine State Museum so I am unable to attach a scan of these records since their policies do not permit any electronic reproduction of their materials.

The microfilms of these records were created with substantial grants from the Wooden Canoe Heritage Association (WCHA). I hope that you will join or contribute to the WCHA so that services like this can continue. See http://www.wcha.org/wcha/ to learn more about the WCHA and http://www.wcha.org/join.html to join. More information about the Kennebec models can be found in the Kennebec catalogs contained on the Historic Wood Canoe and Boat Company Catalog Collection CD available from http://www.dragonflycanoe.com/cdrom.htm on the web.

It is also possible that you could have another number or manufacturer if this description doesn't match your canoe. Feel free to reply here if you have any other questions.
