Curious about Wooden Canoes
Yesterday, I finally got around to drilling out the rivets fastening the rudder gudgeons to my 18 foot Old Town Guide canoe, so I could remove the canvas. With the canvas off, it is time to strip the varnish from the interior. I have seen posts here recommending that one hire a professional furniture stripper to do the job, and that sounds like a good idea to me. Can anyone refer me to a furniture stripper in the D.C. area? Or, can anyone who has had their boat stripped by a pro give me a ball park estimate for a fair price for stripping an 18 foot canoe? Thanks.
