WCHA GREAT RIVERS CHAPTER
INVITE YOU TO ATTEND OUR
SECOND ANNUAL
EARTH DAY PADDLE
APRIL 22ND, 2007
JUST LIKE LAST YEAR, ONLY WAY BETTER! OUR TREASURER GENE OTT WILL BE THIS YEARS HOST ON THE RIVER AS WE PADDLE AND PICK. (-UP TRASH, THAT IS!) EARTH DAY ORIGINATED IN WISCONSIN SO IT’S ONLY RIGHT THAT WE USE OUR WOODEN CANOES TO CLEAN IT UP A LITTLE BIT. EACH CANOE WILL BE ASSIGNED A GRABAGE BAG TO FILL WITH UN-NATURAL MATERIALS FOUND ON THE WAY.

WE WILL BE CRUISING THE ROCK RIVER THIS YEAR FROM JOHNSON CREEK TO JEFFERSON, WI. PLAN TO DRESS FOR THE WEATHER AND IT’S UNANTICIPATED CHANGES OF MOOD. THE TRIP IS SIX WATER MILES. WE WILL END AT RIVER FRONT PARK WHERE WE WILL OBSERVE OUR CANOES AT REST AND EAT AT THE TERRIFIC LITTLE PUB “THE JEFFERSON DEPOT”. GENE HAS MADE ARRANGEMENTS FOR OUR CARS TO BE SHUTTLED FROM THE LAUNCH TO THE TAKE OUT WHILE WE ARE ON THE WATER. NON-PADDLING FAMILY MEMBERS MAY WANT TO EXPLORE THE OUTLET MALL AT JOHNSON CREEK NEARBY AND LET US KNOW WHAT GOOD DEALS WE MISSED WHILE WE WERE ON THE WATER.

WHERE: MEET AT: ROCK RIVER PARK, CTY HWY B
ONE MILE WEST OF JOHNSON CREEK
ARRIVAL TIME: 10:30-11:00 AM, COFFEE AND ROLLS
LAUNCH TIME: 11:00-11:15 AM

Shine up those Paddles and dust out those canoes...

Only 17 days until EARTH DAY!!! This is the Great Rivers Chapter Second Annual Earth Day Water Event and our first Paddle of the season. Last year we had about a dozen beautiful restored canoes take to the water. What a fabulous sight. What a great time we had. What a great way to celebrate our planet and socialize together. Please send your RSVP's to Margaret Fisher a.k.a. Splinter by April 19th. This years host is Gene Ott. Yes, the event is open to the Great Rivers Chapter Members and their guests as well as any other WCHA members traveling to the area. See you there!!!
