Carleton 20064 16 - not worth restoring but picked it up

The lady who had this canoe was looking for it to be gone - thinking it could be restored or at least used.
I'm guessing it's from @ 1930 - can you provide the build sheet?

It's nothing special to begin with, hull is covered in fiberglass which needs work, many cracked ribs and much of the wood would need splicing or replacement.

She had two other canoes I picked up from her (Royalex and Kevlar) so I hauled it away for her.

It's not something I would ever consider restoring but it could be patched up to use - or cleaned up to display.

Many better canoes out there to restore so I won't be posting it on WCHA site.

Thank you,
Russ

The Carleton canoe with serial number 20064 is a 16 foot long, regular grade, Carleton model with red western cedar planking, open spruce gunwales, birch decks, birch thwarts, birch seats, a keel, and sponsons. The original exterior paint color was dark green. It shipped on April 16th, 1931 to Newark, New Jersey. A scan of this build record can be found by following the link under the thumbnail image attached below.

This scan and several hundred thousand more were created with substantial grants from the Wooden Canoe Heritage Association (WCHA) and others as you probably know well. A description of the project to preserve these records is available at http://www.wcha.org/catalogs/old-town/records/ if you want more details. I hope that you will donate, join or renew your membership to the WCHA so that services like this can continue. See http://www.wcha.org/about-wcha to learn more about the WCHA and http://www.wcha.org/store/membership to renew.

It is possible that you could have another number or manufacturer if this description doesn't match your canoe. Feel free to reply here if you have any other questions.

Benson,
That's it, sponsons are gone but the screw holes are evident.
The canoe already has a new home - someone who picked up one of my wooden canoe rescues last year came for it.
He doesn't know if he is going to restore it completely, just enough to be usable or use it as a display piece.
Glad it got a new home.
Thank you,
Russ
