Hi, I just acquired an Old Town square stern canoe serial number 154941 -18ft. Can anyone tell me how old this is?

The Old Town canoe with serial number 154941 is an 18 foot long, CS (common sense or middle) grade, square ended paddling model with a rowing seat, red western cedar planking, open spruce gunwales, ash decks, pine thwarts, pine seats, half ribs, a keel, an outside stem, and sponsons. It was built between October, 1950 and January, 1951. The original exterior paint color was dark green enamel. It shipped on July 3rd, 1952 to Frederick, Maryland.

A scan showing this build record can be found by following the link at the thumbnail image attached below. This scan and several hundred thousand others were created with substantial grants from the Wooden Canoe Heritage Association (WCHA) and others. A description of the project to preserve these records is available at http://www.wcha.org/ot_records/ if you want more details. It is also possible that you could have another number or manufacturer if this description doesn't match your boat. Please feel free to reply here if you have any other questions.
