I just got back from an overniter with my 6 1/2 y.o. son and a pal of mine and his 6 y.o. son. Great time but bony in some spots.
We rented canoes and had the river to ourselves. Everyone had gone home for the season. Saw a Great Blue Heron, a Bald Eagle, and two fly fishermen.
I was most impressed that my son could paddle and was fairly good about picking our channels. A great learning experience and father son time. I'm pretty stoked right now, and really glad that he had as good a time as I did.
