I'm guessing mid 50's, but I'm surprised to see a sailing rig on a 15' canoe.
Was it original to canoe?

NOT looking for another project, just curious.

Just looked at listing again and see that Benson also asked for the serial number.

The Old Town canoe with serial number 168311 is a 15 foot long fifty pound model with a keel, mast seat, mast step, and a rudder. It was built between December, 1958 and March, 1959. The original exterior paint color was blue. It shipped on March 17th, 1959 to Hanover, New Jersey. A scan showing this build record can be found by following the link at the attached thumbnail image below.

This scan and several hundred thousand more were created with substantial grants from the Wooden Canoe Heritage Association (WCHA) and others as you probably know well. A description of the project to preserve these records is available at http://www.wcha.org/ot_records/ if you want more details. I hope that you will join or renew your membership to the WCHA so that services like this can continue. See http://www.wcha.org/wcha/ to learn more about the WCHA and http://www.wcha.org/join.php to renew.

It is also possible that you could have another number or manufacturer if this description doesn't match your canoe. I'm not looking for another project either and this is available at http://www.ebay.com/itm/391354125226 for anyone who is. It just didn't look like a canoe from 1929 to me. Feel free to reply here if you have any other questions.

Benson
