Just picked up this 15' in which I hope I identified properly as a Old Town as it has diamond shaped bolts and decks of a Old Town. Hope to restore for my wife and I as a nice afternoon paddler. Definitely would like to see the old town build sheet for this number ; hoping it matches to what I got.
Thanks
Paul

Congratulations, the Old Town canoe with serial number 150898 is a 15 foot long, CS (common sense or middle) grade, fifty pound model with a keel. It was built between April and July, 1948. The original exterior paint color was dark green. It shipped on October 26th, 1948 to Buffalo, New York. A scan of this build record can be found below.

This scan and several hundred thousand more were created with substantial grants from the Wooden Canoe Heritage Association (WCHA) and others. A description of the project to preserve these records is available at http://www.wcha.org/catalogs/old-town/records/ if you want more details. I hope that you will donate, join or renew your membership to the WCHA so that services like this can continue. See http://www.wcha.org/about-wcha to learn more about the WCHA and http://www.wcha.org/store/membership to join.

It is also possible that you could have another number or manufacturer if this description doesn't match the canoe. Feel free to reply here if you have any other questions. Happy paddling,

Benson

Great to hear! Thanks Benson for your time to look that up. I restored a 1929 Old town with a sailing rig for a customer about 3 years ago and been looking for one for himself ever since. I don't come across too many Old Town's up here in Canada.
