Old Town Serial No Search #7274

Nick Dennis

WCHA UK
This is an old Town Sailing Canoe which has popped up here in the UK. Any info would help as the owner has asked me to assist in selling it. Sadly glassed on the outside :(

The number stamped in the keelson is 7274

Thanks,

Nick

Nick, what no pictures? Without pictures it never happened! I mean seriously, how am I supposed to start my day if I can't check out other people's projects!

Oh, it looks like Benson beat me to the punch. Nick, we still need a couple pictures - AA grade with double gunwales - those pictures I want to see.

It has row locks fitted too.

I respectfully disagree about the row locks. They aren't in the correct places and the holes are too small. My guess is that these were used for a canopy at some point. I have a similar canoe with mounts like this. See https://www.wcha.org/forums/index.php?threads/12320/ for more about this canoe. The messages at https://www.wcha.org/forums/index.php?threads/15039/#post-75879 and http://www.wcha.org/forums/index.php?threads/4651/#post-24286 have some ideas about what the canopy might have looked like. Good luck with the sale,

Benson

Nick,

Looks like a very cool canoe. I hope the fiberglass comes off easy and the other repairs, tips etc are equally easy. I have always had a weakness for closed gunwale or in this case double gunwale canoes.
Thanks for the pictures. I'm going to mix up a Dark & Stormy to match the weather outside and then my day will be complete.
