Looking to buy this Old Town B6650

HI, I'm new to this forum. I found an old town canoe with the above serial number and wondering if there is any info on it. I have pictures of the serial number just in case someone reads it differently. Thanks, Mark

Maybe 86650? OT never used letters to start old style serial numbers. So look again and see if it is an 8 or even a 6.

Thanks Jan. The guy selling it said the first character was a B, but looking closer at the picture I'm seeing a 9, so I think it's 96650. Mark

The Old Town canoe with serial number 96650 is a 16 foot long, CS (Common Sense or middle) grade, HW (Heavy Water) model with red Western Cedar planking, open spruce gunwales, ash decks, ash thwarts, ash seats, and a keel. It was built between December, 1927 and June, 1928. The original exterior paint color was dark green. It shipped on June 19th, 1928 to Arden, New York. Benson, this sounds like the right canoe. I'm going to actually look at it tomorrow, so I'll be able to confirm that number. I'll post again when I find out. Mark
