Judging from the way the planking runs into the stems, and given that it has closed gunwales, I would guess that your canoe was built by the Racine Boat Manufacturing Company.

This thread probably should be moved to the wood-canvas area, but I'll reply here.
This canoe looks like it's from a Charles River-area builder. Style of decking, full coaming, un-tapered ribs, vertical goring of sheerstrakes, closed gunwales, 4-digit serial number, planking pattern all look like Robertson/Waltham. Of course many other makers produced closed gunwales and used 4-digit serial numbers etc., but all these facts together, and the fact that this canoe is on the Charles River all point to that area as likely manufacture. Racine did plank up canoes like this, but so did the Charles River builders.

After taking a second look I would have to agree with Michael on this one. Oh well, I've been accused of not being an expert before, a comment that I do not disagree with...!
